I would like to point out that despite the version number, Compositor is still lacking in many respects, so please evaluate the product to see if it fits your needs. Here's a list of current limitations.
Not the most common option, but you can choose to install Composer locally. This means that your operating system will not be able to run Composer from anywhere; you will have to specify the path from where it is installed. To do this, follow these steps:

Most PHP developers use either their Macs or Linux-based operating systems for development, making this section relevant to the majority of readers. The process is very similar on both operating systems. You have to run the same commands on your system’s terminal in order to get Composer.
If your system is connected to internet, you can update to the latest version from within the Avid Application Manager. Open Avid App Manager, click the "Apps" Tab. You should see √ Current to the right of "Application Manager" case there is a new version click the text UPDATE and follow the prompts to download and install. *Please note: There is an "Auto-Update" option available in the Preferences area within App Manager. When enabled, this will allow any plug-in or application to update itself if there are new versions available. This is not enabled by default and requires Admin user authentication to enable.
